When ex says this simple thing that seems confusing?

\i got one thing out of him which makes me suspicious..he said what do you want to do this summer...i said have fun and be really busy wbu..he said i just want to be able to make it through :)...i said like with your sports and stuff and he said no just nvm its confusing anyways :)...that what he said so im suspicious if he is trying to make me wonder or something ...my friend thinks he is talking about me and not being with me..so what should i do to see him a lot and gain better friendship and show him that i just want to be friends and so he isn't so scared of fighting happening again like in relationship
