Girth Itch? What does it look like?

My Paint gelding has a sore spot in his girth/armpit area? It looks like a scrape, like he rubbed it raw on something. We have been using Vetrecin spray on it 3x daily. It has gone from red and fleshy (eww...) to light pink and healing ( I hope...) I haven't ridden him in a week and a half, since I noticed the problem. I have been doing a TON of research and my best guess is Girth Itch. The thing is, I can't find ANY pictures of it, only short descriptions. Can anyone help...? Thanks!
