What is the wing to body ratio for a glider for distance?
The correct term is aspect ratio, span / chord. The bigger the better aerodynamically but higher aspect ratios mean heavier structure so designers need to strike a balance between aerodynamic efficiency and structural efficiency. Modern high performance sailplanes have aspect ratios of about 25 to 1.
