Why do Republicans get half of the American votes?

I've been in politics just recently, but it seems that the Right wing only cares about Privatizing Healthcare and Tax Cuts for the richest 1%. If you're the richest 1% that's great, but if you the 99% aren't you basically paying welfare to those who don't need it? How does GOP get the 49% that get screwed over by this recession made by Tax Cuts for those who were possibly outsource American jobs?
